The local currency is the Australian dollar ( AUD).

Banks: from 9:00 to 16:00 from Monday to Thursday, from 9:30 to 17:00 on Fridays.


Transportation


Road


In order to drive in the country it is compulsory to have an international driving license along with the national driving license. The condition of the roads is good, especially near the main cities. If, however, you would like to stray from the beaten track - into the bush - it's advised to drive 4X4. Fuel oils supply facilities are correct. Travelling by bus is effective and comfortable.


Rail


A railroad network does exist. The comfort standards in trains may vary from average to very comfortable. However, it is faster to travel by air considering the distances.

Air


Air transport is excellent but domestic flights are expensive. The network is very developed and ensures the connections between the main cities. One flight almost every hour is ensured between the most important cities.
