Butler Health System and Highmark Inc. have reached a new contract, which goes into effect July 1, according to the Downtown Pittsburgh-based health insurer.
A verbal agreement was reached June 24, which will continue while both organizations work out final details. The agreement covers reimbursement rates for a wide variety of medical services provided to Highmark members.
“We’re very pleased that we could reach this agreement with Highmark, which allows us to continue to meet the health care needs of the people of our region,” Butler Health System President and CEO Ken DeFurio said in a prepared statement.
Highmark Executive Vice President of Health Services Deborah Rice said the agreement demonstrates “the commitment of both organizations to continuing our longstanding relationship,” she said in the statement.
