Cincy Health Dept. clinics win federal designation

2009-7-1 17:37:23

Six of the Cincinnati Health Department’s primary care and dental clinics have been given Federally Qualified Health Center look-alike status, making them eligible for more federal resources.

The clinics receiving the designation are: Millvale at Hopple Street Health Center; Braxton Cann Memorial Medical Center; Northside Health Center; Price Hill Health Center; Ambrose Clement Health Center; and Crest Smile Shoppe in Avondale.

The designation means that the clinics will receive full reimbursement for Medicaid and Medicare clients, and discounted prescription pricing, according to a news release. It could also help the city of Cincinnati receive federal health-care stimulus funds.

“The real winners are the patients we serve who will receive better access to improved services,” said Health Commissioner Dr. Noble Maseru in the release. Maseru and the City of Cincinnati Primary Care Board submitted the application for look-alike status in June 2008.
