How to Clean a Steam Shower

2013-2-21 15:59:56

Since steam showers shoot out clouds of steam throughout the showering process, it may almost clean itself. The steam loosens dirt and grime so you may only need to wipe it away or you may not notice buildup very often. Bacteria and mold may be a more likely consequence if the water sits in the enclosure for too long, especially in the cracks and crevices. Steam shower manufacturers typically recommend that you should only need to clean the shower once or twice a month, or more if you notice buildup.
Apply a non-abrasive, mild bathroom cleaner or liquid detergent to the shower panels. Let the cleaner or detergent sit for a few minutes to loosen dirt and grime.
Scrub the cleaner into the shower panels with a soft cloth or soft-bristled cleaning brush. Work into the crevices if you notice dirt buildup.
Rinse the shower clean with water.
Let the ozone generator, if your model has one, run for 10 minutes after each time you use the steam shower to clean itself of bacteria and mold.
